Soil air probe S-2388

Designed for taking soil air probes, either deep-oriented from a defined place of the unsaturated soilzone, or integral out from a preliminary sounding with a surface sealing. The probe can reach up to 6 meters depth.

Volatile substances are diffusing in a gaseous form from contaminated groundwater or soil into the free pore space of the surrounding soil.
These volatile substances, especially halogenated hydrocarbons, benzine, fuels and aromatics can be detected by sampling and analyzing the soil air.
Measurements of the soil air are suitable for determining key pollution areas and the pollutant distribution in the soil as well as determining contaminant markers in the groundwater.
Furthermore leaks, drifting away of pollutants and sources of contamination can be detected fast and without major effort.

The drill pipe is driven into the soil up to the depth which is to be examined. Afterwards the capillary probe is inserted into the drill pipe, piercing the airlock in the probing spike, which is opening the probing spike.
With the help of a pump, the soil air is sucked from the surrounding soil into a upstream mounted detection tube or measuring instrument and can then be evaluated.
The airlock prevents the exchange of atmospheric air with the soil air which is to be examined.
