Field vane tester kit

The inspection field vane tester is used to measure the in-situ undrained shear strength in clays, plastic soils. It is primarily intended for use in trenches and excavations at a depth not infuenced by drying and excavation procedures. The range of the instrument depends on the different sized vanes are used (for different types of soils). The accuracy of the instrument should be within 10% of the reading.

The kit consists of:

- set of 4-bladed vanes and conical vane

- torque wrench

- special coupling to determine surface friction effect and correct results

- connectors for rods

The kit shall be mounted on DPL penetrometer.

The conical vane (SLVT) is a method developed in Poland and allows for probing and measuring the shear strength at the same time. It combines both tests and is easy and quick method for evaluation.
